COLTENE has an opening for an experienced Production Supervisor at our site in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. The Machine Shop/Clean Room Supervisor will oversee and direct machining production activities and the personnel that manufacture micro dental tools by using various types of equipment such as CNC grinding, swiss cam automatic screw machine and Swiss turning equipment. This position requires coordination of work with other departmental supervisors, machinists, buyer/planners, engineering and management to ensure timely delivery of quality parts.
These are high volume departments involving hundreds of components used in assembly and packaging requiring attention to detail and careful management of documentation. This position manages directly or through area lead, the activities of a production department to assure quality and that on-time production levels are maintained.
Duties and responsibilities
- Supervise multi-shift productionof various consumable devices used in the Dental industry.
- Adhere to quality and safety systems or maintenance of quality and safety standards.
- Plan and achieve productivity, quality, safety and cost targets.
- Responsible to adhere to and maintain production schedule by working closely with Supply Chain to meet the expectations within the required delivery dates.
- Enforce safety regulations and all company policies.
- Evaluate personnel requirements based on business needs.
- Evaluate training requirements and request necessary training.
- Maintain a good standard of housekeeping.
- Plan and schedule departmental personnel, equipment and materials to meet defined quality, delivery and cost standards.
- Train and instruct employees in the performance of their work, assigned jobs and familiarize employees concerning company and departmental policies and procedures.
- Strive to continually improve the efficiencies of the function and operation of the department.
- Recommend equipment, tooling and processes to support business objectives.
- Support prototyping activities of Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Production Control
- Report any equipment that is not in safe operating condition and remove it from use.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications
The minimum qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability needed in order to successfully perform the job.
- Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required
- Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in a related business or technical field or equivalent of education and experience is preferred
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience in Machining or similar department is preferred
- Good problem solving, decision making, time management and organizational skills
- Know all functions of the equipment including its capabilities and limitations
- Basic computer and math skills
- Basic written and oral communication skills
- Ability to make common sense decisions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
Working conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in primarily a plant environment. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate. This is a full-time exempt position requiring at least 40 hours per week, with hours of work and days scheduled determined by the Manufacturing Manager/Director of Operations. Special circumstances such as off shift and weekend work will occur on an as needed basis. This position requires no travel.
Physical requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily standing for prolonged periods of time. Sitting, walking or bending will occur from time to time. Prolonged periods of concentration and focus are required along with adequate interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with stress of time constraints. The employee is required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This position requires regular and consistent attendance at the facility.
